The Alzheimer's Impact Movement (AIM) is proud to bring the issue of Alzheimer's disease to Cleveland this week and Philadelphia next week. There may be no better issue for both parties to demonstrate their commitment to tackling the top issues on the minds of American voters in a bold and pragmatic way. Fortunately, both Senate andHouse leaders have recently taken exactly such steps to end the Alzheimer's epidemic. Much more remains to be done, but our county is at last taking major strides forward.

To ensure our country continues to make such advances, AIM and it's volunteers repeatedly urged every major presidential candidate over the past year to make Alzheimer's a national priority. Many said they would, including the Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump. Mr. Trump not only shared his personal story with AIM, but publicly committed that he would make addressing Alzheimer's "a total top priority" of a Trump administration. This declaration puts him squarely in step with many other Republican congressional and state leaders across the country.

Speaking of Republican state leaders addressing Alzheimer's, AIM will present an award to one of those leaders, Governor Scott Walker (R-WI), on Thursday morning. Gov. Walker was another leader who not only expressed his commitment to addressing Alzheimer's when he was campaigning for the presidential nomination, but has also played an instrumental role in advancing a package of Alzheimer's legislative initiatives as Wisconsin's governor.
